Instruments: Piano
Through my seven years of teaching piano, I have worked with a variety of students ages 5-75. I emphasize technique and music theory alongside excellent repertoire. The student and I generally choose repertoire together, so that both of us can be excited to work on the pieces together. As a composer, I also encourage my students to create their own music. Instruments: Bass Guitar
My main goal in every lesson is to be as time efficient as possible. We start with introducing new warm up exercises or new approaches to playing the instrument with confidence and facility. This is important for students of all levels so we can learn the correct ways to execute our favorite music in the most efficient way possible. From there I always spend the most time on the student's goals, like learning a new song or perhaps theory and improvisation. Read More

For absolute beginners, I begin with the Sassmannshaus double bass book alongside other materials that help to connect musical ideas with something we already know well: speech. I believe that learning music is just like learning another language. We already know how to communicate effectively, we just need to learn how we can effectively translate those thoughts into music. Just like any language, music is structured in its own manner. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Keyboard
If, however, a student does not practice, I try to work with them in a positive manner to see if we can get to the root of the issue. I do not take a 'lecture style' approach as I find a lack of practice often has more to do with their fear than anything else. If I can help a student address their fears and help work them through it, more often than that this is what helps them move forward with their practice habits. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar
My curriculum is entirely driven by the students needs. I don't believe that one blanket method works for all individuals. Therefore, I spend the early lessons getting to know the student and designing the layout for our lessons moving forward. There are definitely certain books that I have used to assist with teaching. These books are dependant on the level of the student. Some of these books are Ted Green's "Chord Chemistry", "Rythms Complete" by Bugs Bower, and the Hal Leonard guitar method books. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Drums Bass Guitar French Horn
I began learning piano at the age of three. My dad is a band and chorus teacher and didn't consider it an "optional" skill. I actually learned to read music before english! (I was confused in kindergarten when I found that the alphabet went past G!) Music has been an integral part of my life since then with my elementary and high school years filled with festivals, concerts, auditions and competitions. Read More
