Every student is a snowflake, meaning everyone has their own unique preferences and dislikes. I customize my teaching style depending on the student and allow them to progress at their own pace. I like to first introduce students to basics and learn their tastes so I can modify their teaching regimen. I assign students "homework" or practice songs each week to ensure they are maintaining their routine, and if they deviate from this for some reason for more than two weeks, I immediately tune my teaching style to best motivate my students to want to practice. I have performed over fifty concerts in 11 states, including North Carolina, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Maine, Mississippi, Georgia, and California. Notable artists I have shared concert bills with have included Kayla Nettles, who later became a contestant on "American Idol," and Eli James, who has since become the touring drummer for Julien-K. Piano - I find that no one method book is completely standalone, so i incorporate several method books...Piano Adventures, John Thompson's course, Piano Pronto, and some self-composed music for my youngest students! Intermediate-level pianists start choosing some of their own repertoire as well. Clarinet - For students who do well with method books, I use the Rubank Elementary & Intermediate books, and A New Tune A Day books by Ned Bennett. Read More

I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. Sole students are doing the study for sheer personal enjoyment others are more serious and want to make a career out kf mus8c as they mature. Read More

Teaching must be a two way street between the instructor and the student. There must be an understanding of the relationship and a willingness on both ends to take everything that they can out of the experience. I believe once this is done, a relationship can start to form between the two which will naturally help in the learning progress. For adults especially, constructive criticism is just as important as the praise when you do a good job. Read More
