I always start by asking the question: Where would you like to be with your instrument? What kind of music do you see yourself playing? If the student can't find an answer, I make suggestions and guide them until they find what resonates with them. I then go on to pick a piece of music that the student wants to learn or that I suggest based on their tastes and focus on learning it with them part by part. Read More

I'm a dedicated performer and teacher who looks forward to each student's unique strengths and interests in music. In 2010, I began my undergraduate education in Flute Performance at the renowned University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. I've enjoyed learning new performing styles by participating in competition and groups from across the United States. My musical background is diverse. I performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, marched in the Rose Bowl Parade in Santa Monica, as well as played principal flute in university and community orchestras. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my undergraduate days. As a French Horn teacher, I teach multiple schools in China. As a piano teacher, I coached elementary and middle school students on basic techniques of playing French horn, like articulations, scales, essential etudes, and orchestral repertoire. I coached elementary students on basic piano skills, like Bayer piano introductory course, Czerny Op. 599, Op. 299, Hanon sixty exercises for the piano, Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber, John Thompson's Modern Course for the piano and Sonatina album. Instruments: Piano Voice
I have been consistently teaching private music lessons for the past 18 years. I began my own music education with piano and was always very active with choral singing during my younger years. I began studying voice in college, and found the piano background was an invaluable asset! At the end of high school I had traveled internationally for choral competitions and throughout college, I continued with classical solo performances, while branching in to opera roles and musical theater productions. Instruments: Drums Recorder Orchestral Percussion Music

Because in addition to teaching music I'm teaching approaches to learning. Read More
