My teaching style is best referred to as a facilitator. Essentially, I promote self-learning, helping students develop critical thinking skills and retain knowledge that leads to self-actualization. I prefer to guide students by letting them think for themselves, pointing out when mistakes are made but also encouraging them to learn and grow from them. I was born in 1991 and started playing drums shortly after that. Growing up in Detroit Michigan I fell in love with sound and was exposed early to many different styles of music. I have been teaching privately for over ten years. During my time at The Berklee College of Music I took classes in pedagogy, and every teacher I have had the pleasure of studying with has functioned as an invaluable model for how to teach, and the many different ways to articulate and illuminate the nuances of playing the guitar, and playing music. I am a passionate trumpet player and teacher excited to spread my love for the instrument and art form to my students. I have had the opportunity to work with many skilled musicians in my time studying trumpet performance at DePaul University in Chicago and Boston University. I have experience performing in many genre including classical solo and orchestral, jazz and commercial, musical theatre, and new music. My teaching experience began with my passion for the guitar. I started teaching a few students early on when I first was learning how to play. I have since then taught students with disabilities and students of all ages. I have around 1 years of experience with teaching. I teach modern, rock, experimental, metal, blues and classical guitar as well as keyboard. For me teaching is incredibly rewarding. It brings me great pride to see my students grow and as musicians and reach their personal goals. For each student I like to set specific, small weekly and lesson goals as well as broader long term goals, with the intention that each small goal will bring us closer to the large one.
