I believe there is no "cookie cutter" method to teaching so I tailor my lessons specifically to each of my students. I have found that having a strong foundation in classical music sets the tone for musical excellence for all styles, regardless of age or musical maturity. From that perspective I like to start all of my students on The Arban's and Herbert L. Clarke Method books for trumpet. For beginning students, I use the Hal Leonard Basic or Kids Guitar Method because it is such a good introduction to the instrument. For bass and ukulele I also use the beginner Hal Leonard Method books. For more advanced students, I first get a sense for what they want to learn and where they want to go, by asking them some questions about their previous education, what songs they like to listen to, and any problems with practicing or grasping the material, that they may have experienced. I'm a Massachusetts based pianist who specializes in both traditional and contemporary solo and chamber music. I have given performances throughout Japan, as well as solo and chamber appearances in Boston and Salzburg. Additionally, I have participated in numerous competitions, including Nakatsu An Die Music, and was awarded 1st prize, as well as receiving the Jury prize for the Gyula kiss International Competition.
