I have been teaching group and private lessons since 2021, and I have experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds in both virtual and in-person lesson formats. As part of my appointment as a Teaching Fellow through NEC's Community Performances Partnerships program, I am currently a Teaching Assistant at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Dorchester, MA, where I work with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade cello students on technique and music-reading, and through this fellowship and other NEC classes, I have received training in various pedagogical practices for private teaching. I always listen to what the student has to say and I make sure that what we are currently working on always relate to the student's goals. I also record every lesson and send them to the student right after we are done. That way the student can listen back and have all the informations that I gave during the lesson available right away. I began teaching in my Junior year of my undergraduate degree at Westminster for a community outreach program. One of my longest standing students is now attending that college for voice performance as well. I taught mostly younger girls who wanted to sing in choir or the school musical. Throughout my career, I have played in a variety of different projects across a wide spectrum of genres and have a solid understanding of most styles of music. I have varied experience relating teaching, whether it comes from teaching directly or other musical experiences. My earliest teaching experiences were mentorship programs in my local youth symphonies as a high schooler, and since then I've taught in afterschool programs, received my Suzuki Book 1 certification, and taught ear training in a classroom setting. Through my experience in teaching and chamber music, I really try to curtail expectations and goals to a student's individual wants from music making, so that students can feel proportionally challenged and confident to the amount of time they'd like to put in.
