Overview:

I've taught for 20 years , all ages. I'm still passionate and as motivated as when I gave my first music lesson. I have a performance degree from Dean College and was fortunate enough to attend Berklee College of Music. I played Drums for the first time when I was 5 years old. I loved playing, I would run to the drum set after I got out of elementary school. I have a had a number of students go on to Music schools and universities with scholarships ending up with careers in the music industry

EXPERIENCE

I taught my first lesson in Sudbury Massachusetts 19 years ago. I spent 16 years, teaching people of all ages seven days a week. Being able to teach music is a gift. I feel very fortunate. It’s some of the most rewarding work I could ever do. Over the years I’ve learned that recitals on a regular basis are crucial to a students progression. Some of the greatest time of my teaching career are watching the parents of that students faces while child performs something we have worked So hard on.

METHODS USED

Reading and understanding music notation is obviously essential. However, my priority with first students , is to make sure they are engaged and loving what they are doing within the first 10 minutes. I have sat in front of , and studied with some of the most gifted musicians in the world, so suggesting books and instruction material is easy. What’s important is making sure the student is fully engaged and running to the instrument, rather than feeling like it’s homework.

LESSON STYLE

Simple. It’s all about the student. Every student is different. So having one teaching style may not work for everyone. I’m fortunate enough over16 years to understand every student is different. No one style fits all. I get students playing as quickly as possible. We live in an instant gratification period. Every month my students have a recital. From day one we establish reachable goals. Goals are essential. This hopefully creates discipline and keeps the student motivated knowing that he or she will be performing in front of a large audience every month. Fortunately, after years of study and teaching I can effortlessly tailor my instruction to every students needs.
