I have been playing guitar for nearly 20 years.  Over those years I have played many different styles, playing different instruments in different bands, from open mics to big venues all over the country.  I love playing music and love helping others discover their love as well.  One note worthy teaching gig I’ve had was working for a company in Nassau County, NY teaching guitar and music theory to developmentally challenged adults in a day program.  There is no musician I will turn away; my focus is guitar, but I have many instruments and can introduce the basics for many such as drums, violin, viola, cello, piano, bass guitar, as well as composition and arrangement.  I have worked with many bands, ensembles, and chamber groups, and would love the opportunity to help you achieve your musical goals.  Whatever your musical interests, I'll help you get to where you want to go. I love sharing music. It is probably our greatest gift as human beings, and the most fun activity. I run my own music camp and love nature. I have performed in jazz, folk, rock and original music bands as a first call session player and arranger. I also lead my own original music bands. I graduated Berklee undergrad in 2005 and have taught all levels and ages since then. For beginner piano students, I have found the Faber Piano Adventures books to be quite successful. For other lessons, I try to tailor them to each student and find materials that fit with their unique music goals. I have drawn from a variety of music resources, as well as my own knowledge, to help students learn through their own unique way of thinking. I believe it is important to build off of the skills that students already have, and to find ways to support them as they grow in other areas. Read More

For beginner students, I will work on technique, sheet music and getting them started with their first few chords. Technique can be different for everyone on the guitar but approaching the fundamentals of it are important. Sight reading and learning music is similar to technique in the sense that it is all about how you learn the fundamentals in the beginning. It is very important that lessons be fun as well as informative, and as soon as I am able, I like to develop musical, and technical skills within the context of real music, that the student enjoys. Of course for absolute beginners, we have to develop certain skills before we are able to do this but it is important to me, that any student always has material that they enjoy practicing, and that the learning process is never too abstract or needlessly sterile. Since a very early age, I have been obsessed with music. I began playing drums at age 9 and guitar at age 10. I played in Concert/orchestra and Jazz bands all throughout elementary, middle, high school, and college. I have also been apart of numerous bands of my own.
