I tailor my lesson to each student, everyone has a different way of learning and interpreting the crazy world of music. For beginning students we start with the basics, how to hold a pick, how to tune your guitar and basic fretting technique. From there we go into the basic fundamentals of chords and scales. For beginning students who are children, I often use the Andrew Scott Method for flute. When the student is considerably advance I will use the Rubank Book for flute begginers. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping. For adults, I will prefer to first of all know more about their learning abilities, other experiences with music/sports. Than, I will find out more what they are looking to learn and work from there. As a guitar teacher, I like to start with getting the student accustomed with each string, including how to tune a guitar and how to play different notes on each string. Next, I start teaching chords by starting with E minor and then moving as little as possible with the fingers so the student can understand the relation between certain chords. One of the most important aspects of clarinet playing is developing a good sound; therefore, working towards a solid foundation of the fundamentals is essential. When I meet new students, I start by figuring out where they are on their journey, and I meet them there. I approach each lesson uniquely, because we are all different and learn in different ways. I teach with a combination of Lesson and Theory books, usually Alfred's Basic, and we will focus on healthy playing technique. I understand that Lesson and Theory books are not always the most interesting, and I supplement materials by teaching chords so students can learn pop songs of their choosing as well. Read More

I graduated with a BA in Music with Initial State Teacher Licensure, and worked with a Boston-area Summer High School Band Program sponsored by Boston Latin School at Symphony Hall, working with the woodwind and percussion sections on sight-reading and part-preparation for their summer concert. I've taught guitar and piano part-time for over 12 years. The first band I joined in high school did original pop/rock and used handwritten lead-sheets for all their songs so I had the experience early on of reading in a band setting. Read More
