My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church. I believe a major key to success in learning music is finding the methods and concepts that click for you. There are infinite ways to think of a phrase or harmonic relationships and I work to learn which connections make sense to you. One major takeaway from my own education has been how to listen to my playing objectively and free of self-judgement. I graduated from Boston University with my Bachelor's Degree in Voice Performance. During my time there I had the incredible opportunity to perform multiple times in Boston Symphony Hall, as well as performing in operas and recitals. I have traveled to Morelia, Mexico to perform in Verdi's Falstaff in the role of Meg, and throughout my performing career so far I have been blessed to study under very successful and talented teachers, and I want to pass on that knowledge and passion I've learned to the next generation of young musicians.
