Nothing is more rewarding than passing the knowledge of music to my students. It truly is an invaluable gift to have the experience and feeling that playing music gives to a person. The student will carry this with them the rest of life and that truly inspires me to push my students to find their own voice on their instrument. Music is a deeply personal experience and to be able to push my students in a direction to focus their creativity on the drum set is my true goal in teaching and I hope to share it with you! Having a library of methods at my studio, I tailor my materials to the student. That is a creative process in itself, and always fun. I use classical European etudes and methods, contemporary sheet music, my own teaching etudes, childrens' books with CDs, fiddle books, etc. I have weekly lesson plans that cover warmups, focus points, working pieces, etudes, theory, review and performance preparation, and I keep a copy of each plan for my own review. I start teaching when I was in high school, I help my students to pass the piano proficiency test. When I go to my undergraduate, my teachers offer me a lot of teaching opportunities. I am really enjoying it, because the students come in with no experience, and they can perform a song, even they can have their own recital. But I want them play for fun, fun to play. Read More

Each student is a different starting point depending on playing ability and age among a multitude of other factors. I am willing to negotiate to give any help the student needs at any level. However, for beginners we will always start learning by ear, as well as singing and clapping (sound before symbol). For more advanced students, we would include that in some way but I am more catering to each individual need. Read More
