My method is organic. If the student wants to pursue Music Theory we can start with that but I like to develop the passion of music first. It is about having fun!! The passion and energy needs to be there first before we get into any theory. Once we build your love for the guitar we can expand your repitoure of technques and knowledge. Read More

I think the most effective and the shortest way to learn something is to approach it as a game. Thus, the process of learning the ideology of piano touch and phrasing should involve as many games as possible. However, this does not apply to further process of learning as music is one of the most complicated forms of art and it demands deep emotional and conceptual approach. The games of the first stages should help students to develop their creativity, musical imagination and skills to interpret emotions. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I have been fortunate to be able to teach at a prestigious private school in New Hampshire for over 30 years and have worked with a wide range of students, both high school age and adult to help them develop their skills as budding saxophone, clarinet and flute players. I have also organized, conducted and written arrangements for several jazz ensembles and combos of different sizes and am excited to share my knowledge of jazz and improvisation with interested students. Repertoire includes any songs or pieces that students are interested in learning and will be arranged to scaffold their current skill level. My teaching also places a special emphasis in improvisation - since much of modern guitar music is written from a place of improvisation and involves improvising, I believe it is a vital skill for students to have. Even a beginning understanding of improvising will give students a fresh new perspective on the music they enjoy and will give them the skills to play with any musician they may meet. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a modified Suzuki method, starting with rote learning and eventually progressing to notated music. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
