Instruments: Piano Trombone

I am a passionate and inspired music instructor in trombone, music theory, composition, arranging and beginner level piano technique. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Jazz Performance at Berklee's Global Jazz Institute I believe that music is a manifestation of the complexities of the human condition and can act as a conduit of change and inspiration. Communication through music enables expression, provides comfort, enlightenment, hope and optimism. Our role as educators is to provide the venue for learning and create an atmosphere of all-inclusive inspirational thought provocation. Read More

Instruments: Cello

For beginning students I start with the Suzuki cello books, and teach books 1 to 5. I reinforce the Suzuki with pop/ non-classical songs, depending on the student's interest. After Suzuki 5, which is well into the intermediate level, I introduce individual works (small concerto's, sonatas, etc.) and cater them towards the student's ability and interest. For younger or beginner students, I reinforce the Suzuki books with sight-reading, and as they progress, I add in etude studies.  Read More

Instruments: Trombone Euphonium

It depends on the age of the student, but there are plenty of method books and pieces that can both teach a student music theory and notation, as well as their performance skill. With beginners its perfect to start with the Rubank series from Beginner-Intermediate. Many students are given the "Standard of Excellence" series by their school teacher and that series works as well. I believe these books are a great start, but can get old fast. Read More

Instruments: Piano Trumpet

I am always continuing to expand my potential as a musician and as a human being. I feel that self-knowledge equates largely to the quality and meaning of music when expressed. Technical abilities are very important of course as they set the limitations of self-expression, though many seem to overlook the deeper purposes and benefits of music. I myself love my craft. From music I gain an intellectual rise through analysis, a creative outlet through improvising and composing, and a great understanding of how my body functions most effectively. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar

Open to letting the student direct his own course study. I would suggest trying to learn complete songs so you don't just learn 10 seconds of a million different things. You will be making music, instead of mimicking solos....... I am here to guide and talk guitars, song structure, theory - I will teach you as much as I know and am continuing to learn, just fun music banter, what are you listening to, what are your favorites, what I am listening to..... Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar

I am a guitarist of 11 years, mostly self-taught. I started learning with the RI Philharmonic music program, then learned on my own by playing with my church band and playing my favorite rock albums by ear. I studied Recording Arts at Full Sail University, which gave me a deeper understanding of the process behind music production, and gave me exposure to new kinds of music to expand my pallette of musical expression. If someone asked me what's my favorite type of music, I now simply show them my Spotify playlist as it's gotten to the point where I can't pinpoint a single favorite, and the amount of music I've heard is too much to describe simply.Having returned to my home state of Rhode Island, I continue to play with my church band and continue to heighten my skills as a guitarist, with the hopes of writing my own original material and continue to invest the gift of music in those around me. Instruments: Clarinet

To be a better musician requires a strong solid foundation of the fundamentals. Clarinet maintenance, equipment, reeds. Body posture, finger position, embouchure. Musical understanding and expression, scales, etudes, and other repertoire. When I meet a new or prospective student, I first evaluate where in their training are they coming from. Beginner - Amateur - Advanced and so forth. Depending on what I initially hear by their playing I would advise them accordingly and inquire what they hope to achieve out of the lessons. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
