For beginning adults I try to determine exactly what they are wanting to achieve by starting an instrument at this point in life. My emphasis is on performance and motivating the student. I set goals for performance at the early stages of study whether it's for family and friends or at an open mic or in church. Without performance as a goal it's hard to motivate the student to practice. I analyze each student's individual learning style whether it's visual or auditory and find ways to help them learn faster and securely. My teaching experience began in college when I tutored other music majors in music theory. I then went in to become a Choral teacher for grades 6-12. I taught privately for the past 25 years, teaching those grade levels and then began teaching senior citizens almost 10 years ago. Im currently a worship director for a church in the Leesburg area where I work with people of all ages.
