Here in The US , I identified Alfred as the method that closest resembles the ABRSM . Alfred's books are even easier and more straightforward. They work very nicely with the British ABRSM. So I use Alfred Theory book for American terms and Aural training and Musicianship in Practice and matched them by the order of the ABRSM curriculum to a great success. Read More

Growing up under the impression of my father, who was always involved in playing instruments and singing from a young age, you could say that it is in my DNA. From 2003-2011, nearly my entire primary school education, I was trained in music theory, music performance in orchestra and voice, and singing for the stage. Over the years I have accumulated various awards and recognition including Superior ratings in sight reading on double bass, outstanding vocal performance from the Miami Conservatory of Music, and performing alongside the county's best in the Miami Dade Honor's Orchestra. Lessons can focus on technique, performance, sight reading / singing, ear training, music history, music theory, composition, improvisation, fakebooks and more. With beginning students, I like to use a combination of Alfreds Basic method books. I like the variety it gives students from fundamentals to performance tunes, sight reading and music theory. Students will progress from playing on black keys only, hands separately, to simple five key songs very quickly.
