Overview:
I'm an experienced instructor with over 16 years teaching guitar to students of all ages and all levels. I studied music at Berklee College of Music where I learned a variety of guitar styles. Most musicians can tell you that you never really stop learning and there's always room for improvement. That is certainly true with me. I'm always working on my skills not only as a musician, but as a teacher. For me, teaching is not a side job, it is an occupation that I'm fully devoted to. Whether you are complete beginner or you've been playing for a while, allow my many years of experience serve you to achieve your goals.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching guitar in 2002 while still attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. That's when I found my true calling in life and I have now taught hundreds of students. Several of my former students have even gone on to obtain part-time and full-time music careers. I've also helped several of my students with college auditions so that they too can become musicians, like me. Music is a way of life for me and I can't think of anything more rewarding. I love watching my students grow and improve over time.
METHODS USED
Throughout my many years of teaching, I've come across a variety of methods, some good and some bad. I know what methods are the best to achieve a students particular goals. Most of the time, I like to start my beginners by teaching them the basics which includes how to read music. Not everybody has to become an expert sight-reader but it's important to be able to identify the information on sheet music. Generally, I find that students that can read music can understand music concepts a lot better that those that don't read music. That being said, there are students that don't want to learn to read and I understand that as well. For those students there are many methods available that can help them achieve what they want. In some cases, I may not even use a method at all but I always write down the information students need so they can go home knowing how to practice and what to practice.
LESSON STYLE
Although I have experience teaching both private, one-on-one lessons and group lessons in a classroom setting, I find that one-on-one lessons is the best way to learn. This allows students to go at their own pace and not have to feel rushed. Not to mention, it's way more enjoyable to learn when you have a patient teacher giving you support and motivation. I don't like to rush students because after all, most students just want to learn for fun. Hey, this is not a race, let's keep it fun and enjoyable. I want my students to succeed but if it's not fun, why do it all?

? "Byron is an amazing instructor. He is well versed in all genres of music and tailors his instruction to the student. I never thought I would enjoy learning theory but Byron made it interesting and relevant. I actually got to play a gig with the lessons learned from Byron. Thank you brother for helping me reach a bucket list goal! Rock on!

Byron is an extremely talented musician and excellent teacher. He is keenly aware of his students individual paces and teaches accordingly. I learned so much from him and am so pleased that my lifelong dream of being able to play the guitar has come true. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.
