Music in the school system is taught backwards. If you're a beginner, you were put in a beginning class. this makes it very difficult for students to advance quickly because they aren't playing music with people who are more advanced than them. I make sure the students have the ability to play the instrument before they learn a ton of theory, because knowing how the wrritten form of music work without being able to play them is recipe for frustration. Being a self taught musician I know how patience is needed when you're learning to play any music instrument. I like teaching students at their own speed. I won't try to get ahead if I see the student is struggling to learn. I like making sure my students learn but most importantly remember what has been taught during the lessons. I don't like overwhelming you with lots of information specially if you're too new in the field. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
For beginners I normally use Talking Trumpet as a primary flow exercises book and Edwards-Hovey Method for Cornet or Trumpet to start the practice in articulations and fingerings in a comfortable pitch. In according with the improvement I add or change practice books. To intermediary level I certainly will apply Arban`s Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet and some alternatives to flow exercises and technical studies. In a appropriated moment, and if it was a student desire, I start to introduce solo repertoire. Read More

My teaching experience started by chance, a friend of mine asked me for lessons which I gave for free. I would never think teaching was such a fun and rewarding experience. Ten years later I still teach and I am very passionate about it. I have teach ages from 12 to 30 and I realized that the teaching approach has to be customized a little depending on each student. My students are going to learn the techniques that will take them to the next level. Read More

I first started teaching after I went good around middle school. I was giving charity classes to a bunch of friends from school who later decided to follow up their guitar studies academically and I gave them the foundation. I started teaching because my teacher said I was already good enough and if I could help him teach the other students, so I did until he retired and me and my Duo Partner took over the school. For children and adults who are beginners I tend to use the Orff Approach as well as the Dalcroze Method. With thses methods I cnan engage the student with the music while they use their mind and body to learn the basics of music. I like to first teach students to read sheet music and learn the importance of meter and time siganture. I then move on to more techniques as they learn. Read More
Instruments: Violin
My initial lessons for all ages and levels begin with discussing expectations, motivations, and past experiences with music. Lessons should feel engaging fun, and productive. New players will learn fun ways to read music, feet positions, and hand exercises. Once a foundation is established, we'll learn more advanced skills and solo material. Beginners and intermediate players will always encounter scales and etudes as well as solo material just challenging enough to learn something new and fun enough they'll practice until they rock it.
