Teaching piano is my passion. I have my AA degree in Music Education with an emphasis in creative performance and also have my bachelors degree in Music Education. I have served as chairman of the National Guild of Piano and I currently have a studio of 30 students. When I'm not teaching, I play at North Hialeah Baptist Church in Hialeah, and play in my band, "Sunset Worship". I love giving 2- 4 recitals throughout the year and love performing with my students. I strike a balance between pushing for skill and making sure a student has fun. That balance rests on communication how invested, listened to, and motivated they feel. To establish that communication, we'll talk each week about progress, concerns, and triumphs. I also try to find the roots of problems. I typically start by first assessing whether or not the student has any prior experience in musical training, whether that be in a private instrument, music theory, or just some experience gained from taking music classes at school. From there I develop a curriculum tailored to both the student's current level of musical knowledge as well as what interests them. When teaching and assigning homework and repertoire, I like to offer a balance between what the student wants to learn and the essential exercises that will expand the student's musical knowledge, abilities and muscle memory. Although I have experience teaching both private, one-on-one lessons and group lessons in a classroom setting, I find that one-on-one lessons is the best way to learn. This allows students to go at their own pace and not have to feel rushed. Not to mention, it's way more enjoyable to learn when you have a patient teacher giving you support and motivation. I quicly began to seek out a way to teach music before I was in college and built a small studio of beginner cellists in my home town.
