Minghui graduated from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Piano Performance and Conducting. She is currently attending University of St Thomas in St Paul, MN to receive her Masters in Music Education: Piano Pedagogy. Phebe is originally from Singapore, and began playing piano at the age of three and found she really loved playing. She played for the National Youth Festival in Singapore and has also performed with choirs internationally. She recently accompanied the North Central University Chorale in a performance at Carnegie Hall, New York. Phebe has been teaching piano for 17 years, and passing on a genuine, life-long passion for music is her goal for teaching piano. She believes that music is a way to guide a student's artistic development, character, and a means for her students to serve others and glorify the Lord; to see her students succeed in their life endeavors.
My first teaching experiences were with my father during solo and ensemble. Having hired me as an accompanist for his students, I found myself rehearsing these students moreso than accompanying them. From that point I felt encouraged to teach and help others perfect their craft. My biggest influences would have to be my past teachers, one of which taught me younger and the other as I matured. I believe that while learning to read and write sheet music, developing technique and feel, and understanding music theory are all important, the most integral part of learning an instrument - as fundamental as it sounds - is to use your ears! But most importantly, you should play what you want to play. I'll teach everything from classical and jazz to punk rock and hip-hop, but as long as you're having fun learning and expressing yourself through the power of music that's all that matters!
I like to use a common sense approach with a foundation in music theory to develop the whole musician. I will encourage note reading but will give harmonic context for the singer or keyboardist looking to improve versatility.
I was raised in a musical family. My father, brother, and sister all played guitar. I began playing drums in school band at ten years old. At twelve I got my first drum set and began playing to CD's and stopped playing in school band. At fourteen I began playing in a band and started playing shows. In college I played drums in four different bands played shows all over the city. In college I began to play guitar and I have been playing guitar and I have been playing for eight years now. I took classical guitar lessons while getting my minor in music and I have been playing consistently ever since. I currently play drums for a local punk band and play shows at various venues.
I have been involved in music study and education, church music, and performance nearly all my life. My mother started me in piano lessons at the age of 4 six decades ago. It's the greatest gift she ever gave me...one that has lasted a lifetime. My passion and desire is to share the love of music and the wonderful sense of achievement from making your own music with my strudents.

In home lessons are a convenient option for improving your musical skills, and are virtually the same in every aspect as lessons taught in a studio. Lessons are usually taught once a week and significant progress can be made in a short time. Of course, teachers will suggest that students practice every day for the best results.
Musika offers an annual performance opportunity for all students through our spring recitals in May and June. Recitals are a great chance for young students to perform for the first time, more experienced students to show their skills, and even for adults to show their love of music! Musika students perform most often on piano and guitar, but we also have many singers, violinists, and even drummers - every instrument and style is welcome.
Music helps develop a well rounded person. As a result of taking lessons, students develop a deeper appreciation of many types of music and the arts in general. Additionally, it has been proven that they also tend to score higher on language, maths, and science tests.

There are only a handful of people I count in my life who were great teachers, and Laura is one of them. Her musicianship is so secure as are her technique and personality that she zeros in on my weaknesses and devises exercises to strengthen them, and during the lesson it is not "Do this, no, do that" which is unnerving to a novice. She understands the most important part of study is relaxation, so that is easy to achieve with such a confident and compassionate human. Music is her life and she is eager to share her talent with everyone. A rare find, indeed!

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Rachel. We met her through CYT where my daughter took theater classes from Rachel and was directed by Rachel in several musicals. Because Rachel was so wonderful to work with and so clearly talented at teaching and directing, several years ago, my daughter started private vocal lesson with her and I have seen my daughter's vocal abilities grow in leaps and bounds. Rachel is an ace at picking music to work on that stretches abilities while at the same time, keeps vocal lessons fun. I highly recommend her as a voice and theater coach.

Gina is very supportive and encouraging. Even though I get frustrated with my progress, she can tell that I've been practicing and reminds me of how far I've come. She challenges me to learn new skills without giving me a piece that I cannot master (with practice). I'm happy that she is my music teacher and look forward to many more lessons in the future.

Lindsey has been coming to our house to give saxophone lessons to our 12 year old daughter for about a month. She is an absolute joy. She is extremely knowledgeable, flexible with her schedule, and my daughter thinks she is "fun" and "cool". We would highly recommend her to anyone wanting music lessons. A+

Kevin is very friendly and professional trombone teacher. During the first session he assessed my 12 year old son's strengths and identified areas for development. He has helped him refine his technique which helps our son in band class but also has him working on duets that help him grow in new ways. He comes to our home and is always very punctual. I would highly recommend Kevin!

Rebecca has been super with my son! He is 8yrs old and has mild aspergers. He has never played an instrument before but after one lesson with his teacher he could keep a beat on his drums. She is able to keep his attention and really makes it fun! She is flexible and easy going. I highly recommend her for any lessons. Very nice teacher! Thank you Rebecca for your outstanding service!!

Brett is an accomplished musician, who shared his knowledge at a level that my five year old understands. He is polite and relaxed in his mannerisms but take a serious approach to focusing on the lesson. He is very patient and engaging with the attention span you'd expect from a kindergartener. His motto ever is "sometime you learn faster by going slow"

I am a beginning guitar player that has now taken five lessons with Jeff. I cannot speak highly enough of Jeff has a guitar teacher! I have learned more in five lessons than the months I spent trying to learn on my own. Jeff has introduced me to music apps that I can use during my practice sessions, followed up our lessons with comments and/or music, is very encouraging - yet holds high standards. During my lessons I feel that Jeff is very observant and tuned in to your positioning when playing - whether it be your wrist, your arm, or your fingers. He always offers recommendations on ways to try to fix something that I might be struggling with. He really pays attention. As an aside, Jeff is a very talented songwriter and musician. Check him out on YouTube. His songs are very beautiful and inspirational. I'm honored to be his student! - Linda

Kevin was such a fun, smart and innovative voice teacher to work with. I had the pleasure of taking lessons with him for over a year and I couldn’t have been more pleased with my time under his training. In just a few weeks I noticed my voice was stronger and I was able to apply his teaching and see the results. He explains his techniques in a way that the student is able to actually hear and feel the changes he is referring to. This allows the student to efficiently practice outside of lessons. Even further, he believed in me and truly cared about my progress. He was always energetic and focused in lessons and was continually surprised how far a song could come in just one hour of his time. Under his teaching I developed a stronger belt in my higher range, learned how to color my voice for different sounds and improved my stage presence. I wholeheartedly trust Kevin’s musical insight and was grateful that he challenged me with a wide variety of songs and styles that I hadn’t considered trying before.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
