I am a motivated instructor who enjoys teaching students of all ages.  My experience includes playing from memory works by well known classical composers such as Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Debussy.  These recitals were before I graduated.   My teachers were impressed that I could play these works from memory.  I enjoyed practicing for these recitals. If students are very young and have not learned to read music, I work on ear training and listening to music and practicing rhythms before learning to read music. When teaching older students and adults, I feel it is helpful for me to find out what kinds of music they enjoy listening to, so that they can learn these pieces on their instrument. I grew up overseas in several countries, exposed to several types of music, and have played guitar for over 20 years. Although my education was focused on the sciences, I did take music classes as electives while studying. I have an acoustic (with a jack) and electric guitar, as well as an Amplifier should you not have access to a guitar or amplifier. I began teaching guitar in 2002 while still attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. That's when I found my true calling in life and I have now taught hundreds of students. Several of my former students have even gone on to obtain part-time and full-time music careers. I am a musician originally from Mexico, I have performed in Latin america and Europe. I am currently Principal viola with Symphony of the Americas and part of the Con Brio Quartet. Besides teaching and performing in orchestra I am also very active as a recitalist and chamber musician. I have a lot of passion for voice and I want my students to progress. In my own journey, it's taken years of daily practice to see real results and change. I push my students to practice daily for at least an hour and I give specific vocalizations that will help strengthen particular weaknesses in each voice.
