What I like to do in my studio is, set realistic goals for the student. I use "challenges" to help students achieve their goals. And reward them when they achieve them. I like using a lot of games as well to make piano learning fun. So I teach a lot of theory aspects using games with timers, and flash cards, dry erase dices and prizes when goals are meant. My experience goes back all the way to middle school. The first time I saw somebody playing a guitar I was surprised. I couldn't believe the melody that came out of it, and just how good it seemed the person playing was feeling. At the time I was about 11 years of age, when my mom bought my first guitar. I started playing very basic songs.
