My teaching style is based on traditional classical approach of Russian Piano teaching method. For younger, beginner level student lessons are structured around different activities and games (for very young students) to learn notes reading and rhythm. For intermediate and more advanced students each lesson starts with a warm up, of scales, arpeggios, etudes or other technical pieces. After that we move onto working on individual pieces of music. Although I have experience teaching both private, one-on-one lessons and group lessons in a classroom setting, I find that one-on-one lessons is the best way to learn. This allows students to go at their own pace and not have to feel rushed. Not to mention, it's way more enjoyable to learn when you have a patient teacher giving you support and motivation. I usually start with a beginners book for children or adults.  We go through the lessons at their own speed.  As for practicing the scales, I do not introduce them until the students is thoroughly familiar with the keys (the alphabet of the keys.)  For adults I introduce the scales and arpeggios much earlier. I quicly began to seek out a way to teach music before I was in college and built a small studio of beginner cellists in my home town.
