I'm a professional trombonist, composer, and music teacher in Miami, Florida who is dedicated to the study of music. I am a lecturer in the University of Miami's jazz and studio music program, where I have taught music theory, ear-training, and jazz ensembles. I usually start with a beginners book for children or adults.  We go through the lessons at their own speed.  As for practicing the scales, I do not introduce them until the students is thoroughly familiar with the keys (the alphabet of the keys.)  For adults I introduce the scales and arpeggios much earlier. I typically start by first assessing whether or not the student has any prior experience in musical training, whether that be in a private instrument, music theory, or just some experience gained from taking music classes at school. From there I develop a curriculum tailored to both the student's current level of musical knowledge as well as what interests them. Teaching piano is my passion. I have my AA degree in Music Education with an emphasis in creative performance and also have my bachelors degree in Music Education. I have served as chairman of the National Guild of Piano and I currently have a studio of 30 students.
