I am a motivated instructor who enjoys teaching students of all ages.  My experience includes playing from memory works by well known classical composers such as Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Debussy.  These recitals were before I graduated.   My teachers were impressed that I could play these works from memory.  I enjoyed practicing for these recitals. I first began teaching when I was appointed by my professor to be the tutor for music theory and beginning guitar class at the college I was attending. From 2011 until spring of 2014 I worked as the music director for an elementary school. For beginning students, we work on breathing and different warm up techniques. Once the student has progressed we will then start solo repertories for different genres. For beginning students I make sure we know every warm up exercise and stretching exercises for the fingers after explaining the importance of rehearsing properly. We will start getting familiarized with a couple circles until the student fluently knows how to accompany every chord. After we are going to learn scales so they also familiarized with licks and comp. After the student does fluently the exercises we will see what the student is mainly interested on learning regarding genre of music for it the process is full of joy. Read More

I always like to know what is the goal of each of my students. What style or genre they like as well as if they are aiming to be a solo performer or part of a band or ensemble. I like to start students on method books such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, this will teach students basic music theory as well as how to read on a staff. If also like contemporary music, I will teach them how to read chords letters, so to play styles such as jazz, pop, rock and contemporary gospel music. Read More

I then joined the international singing group, The Four Aces, where I became their musical director, bass singer and trumpet soloist for 42 years, before retiring last year. I have played first trumpet with the American Legion Symphonic Band for 10 yrs., the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches and South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble, plus playing lead trumpet in several big bands in South Florida. For my beginning students i will start them off with the Rubank series of books for beginners. This will teach them basic tone and basic technique. After that I will continue to using the Rubank series for intermediate and advance volume 1. After that I will switch to the Hite Etude books Volume 1 and 2 these book will go into more depth with the tone and the technique. After that depending on how well the student response to the books I will then introduce solo repertoire appropriate for the their first recital performance. Read More
