Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
i have been teaching music since 2005 when i graduated from conservatory of music Amadeo Roldan. i like to take the technique from the classical music, for me is a very good base. and you can transpose to almost any kind of genre, and students should have a goal, like : some musician that they like how he play, some musical piece they want to play, or specific genre they enjoy more etc Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola Double Bass Music
I have been teaching music for the past 25 years. First in the Public Schools in Tennessee and Florida and at the college level. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I began my teaching career as a middle and high school band director and taught beginning classes and lessons as well as concert and marching bands. When my daughters were born, I began teaching private lessons on piano and clarinet. I really enjoyed seeing how much my students would progress in private lessons and how successful they were in recitals and at piano guild contest. For the last twenty years, I have enjoyed teaching general music and choir in an elementary school in Dallas. Read More
Instruments: Trombone Music
I taught my first trombone lessons when I was still in high school, and I've always felt a strong connection to teaching (my parents are teachers too). When I was getting my masters, I began teaching beginning brass classes at local elementary schools, and this expanded into several elementary band classes upon graduation. I also maintained a studio of trombone students. I'm currently a lecturer at the University of Miami and teach music theory students ages 7-18 for a community arts program. Read More
Instruments: Piano
Seeing my students develop a passion for music is very rewarding. Each student progresses to their own pace; no rush whatsoever. Setting goals that they can achieve will encourage them to progress on track. Acknowledging their accomplishments will keep their desire to continue learning more. I recommend that when they practice, to have them play it for an audience, like family or friends. That way they can be comfortable playing for others because when they are put into recitals, Student Day, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, etc. they'll be able to play at ease, and at the same time, enjoy it too. Instruments: Bass Guitar
For beginning students I like to focus attention on fundamental technique on both hands, making sure that they use the correct finger positioning on the bass. As they advance, the student will begin to know the whole fretboard through scales and arpeggios (in all keys) so the student knows where all the notes are in the instrument. For intermediate to advanced students I recommend books like "Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony" by Bert Ligon, "Fingerboard Harmony for Bass" by Gary Willis, "Funk Bass Fills" by Anthony Vitti, "The Latin Bass Book" by Oscar Stagnaro and "The Essential Jaco Pastorius" by Jaco Pastorius. Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium French Horn Tuba
At other times I studied with members of the Ensemble Modern in Germany. Most recently my musical studies have focused around composition and experimental music performance. I believe that the ultimate lesson that I learned from the best of the teachers, was how to teach oneself how to teach oneself, as you are your own best teacher. I believe that I can impart and share the knowledge that was shared ot me, for the next generation of performers. Read More
