I believe that every students learns at their own pace and in their own way. Because of this, my teaching style will vary slightly for each students. I always find ways to motivate my students to practice on their own. I do this by trying to find music that fits their interests, helping them set long-term and short-term goals, and giving students etudes, repertoire, and practice techniques that are challenging, yet not overwhelming. Over the past 13 years, I have taught piano, music theory, and music composition to a diverse group of learners, including school-age children, college students, and adults of distinct backgrounds. From 2014-2018 I received the Graduate Teaching Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, where I led piano courses for non-Music majors, and held weekly recitations and office hours for required courses for Music majors. Arias maintains a roster of trumpet and piano students through both her personal studio and the Monroeville Music Lesson Center. She serves as the trumpet coach for the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and is the trumpet instructor for the Norwin High School Marching Band. During her graduate studies, she served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant to Dr. James Stokes at the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University and was previously the trumpet teacher for George Rogers Clarke High School in Winchester, KY; a counselor for the Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy; and an instructor for the West Union Performing Arts Camp. I'm very passionate about my art and love to see growth in everyone I teach! I push my students to strive for success, but at the same time my lessons are very relaxed and fun. Besides working on weekly selections, we will listen to examples, talk about a variety of topics including technique, musicianship, theory (primarily jazz lessons), as well as play duets and improvise together (jazz lessons).
