For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements as well as my own individual exercises written specifically for each student's needs as they develop. After they have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and etudes for their first recital performance. My method varies depending on the student. If the student wants a traditional musical approach, and is interested in learning notation and theory, then we will usually start with the Hal Leonard Book Series. If the student doesn’t want to learn notes or the more advanced musical concepts, I usually just start by teaching them simple songs that they know from the radio, TV Shows or movies. In Russia, I was a concert pianist as well as a teacher of classic piano theory and performance.  I was a soloist who performed with a full orchestra as well as being a chamber musician, accompanist for singers and for strings. Since I came to the United States, I have concentrated more on teaching.  I have taught piano at many music schools and have also given private lessons, both at students' homes and at my music studio.  My piano students have won multiple awards at music competitions in Russia and the United States.  In 2006, a student of mine won first prize at the West Chester University Music Competition.  Then in 2011, my students won prizes in the International Music Competition, the National League Competition and the Tri-County Competition. I have written 2 drum books which I use as part of a comprehensive teaching method. All students will learn an equal balance of snare, rock, and jazz drumming, as well as soloing. During my middle through high school years as a performing arts student, I began teaching to the younger grades because I loved filling my time with music performance and education. I was honored to perform at various venues on Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts, such as the Kimmel Center. I have performed with the Curtis Institute of Music, Temple University's orchestra, the All-City Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as multiple performances with the conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
