There are often good lessons that go along with these pieces, and I pick pieces that are famous for good reason! For students of any level, it is useful to have a combination of repertoire that is more challenging, and pushes my students to see beyond their current skill level, as well as repertoire that allows them to enjoy the expression that is possible with their current skill level. In 2012, I graduated from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy with a concentration in piano. In 2015, I graduated with my Master of Arts degree in Ritual Chant Song from the University of Limerick in Ireland. In my lessons the most important thing to relax, have fun and express yourself. I let students pick which song they like and let them add a piece of their vision of the song. For beginners, I start with the basics of sound production, and move onto reading music and basic songs shortly after. I try to teach things both visually and by ear, so that the student does not feel that they have to wait to play fun music until they are advanced enough. My students are always encouraged to ask questions and speak up if something isn't their style.
