Instruments: Voice, Music

When a student feels that they have obtained a goal from their statement, they will be asked to identify a new goal that extends upon their newly learned skillset. These progresses will be documented as a tangible representation of each student's journey as they continue to develop their instrument. A brief evaluation of the voice will be done with a few short warm-up exercises and the student will be asked to sing a song of their choice. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Drums, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Music, Electric Guitar, Djembe, Classical Guitar

Im a composer and musician, and I love learning and teaching how music works. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego in 2018 with a Bachelors in Music composition and have been making and teaching music ever since. I started guitar and drum lessons when I was ten years old, motivated by the joy of rocking out and expanded to classical instruction in highschool. I love to bring that rock-out spirit to my classical experiences and incorporate classical strategy and awareness to my popular musical expressions. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Saxophone, Bass Guitar, Synthesizer, Music, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

I work closely with my students on crafting a lesson plan that best suits their interests. I've never been a homework guy; instead, I like to inspire my students by following their desired goals. Want to learn how to play like Metallica? Let's do it. Want to write songs like Taylor Swift? I'm game. Want to play bass like Flea? That's a challenge I'm up for. I like to consider myself as not only a teacher, but also as a bandmateyour goals are also mine, and we're working together to help you achieve them. Read More

Instruments: Drums, Mallet Percussion, Conga, Latin Percussion, Music, Djembe

For my beginner students, I usually start with how to properly hold the drumsticks. If a student doesn't have proper technique while playing the drums, they won't progress nearly as fast. I then like to go into learning rudiments and basic drum grooves. Once they start to get comfortable on a drum set, I'll throw in some basic sight reading. The books I mainly use are "Stick Control" by George Lawrence Stone, "The New Breed" by Gary Chester and "Syncopation" by Ted Reed. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Drums, Bass Guitar, Synthesizer, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Conga, Music, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

For beginning students, I first incorporate the fundamentals of each instrument while catering to their musical interests, along with encouraging them to take regular performance opportunities. I want students to focus on the technicalities of what they are doing, but relate it to how it relates to performance and musicality. In students analyzing what they are doing to create sounds, I am guiding musicians to be reflective in their practice and performance, which I believe is one the key characteristics of becoming a life-long performer and learner.
