It's remarkable to witness how these small victories fuel a student's eagerness to delve deeper into their musical exploration. Understanding what sparks a student's interest is key to crafting personalized instruction that resonates with them. By delving into their inspirations and aspirations, I can tailor my teaching approach to align with their unique wants and needs. Whether it's a favorite artist, a particular style of music, or a desire to master a specific technique, I strive to create a learning environment that fosters their passion and cultivates their potential. With beginner students I start by establishing good foundation through method books by Simandl and Todor Toshev which include technical exercises for both hands as well as little popular melodies to keep the student interested and develop their musicianship. With more advanced bassists I introduce exercises, etudes and methods by Franois Rabbath, Bottesini, Hrabe and others as well are pieces form the standard double bass repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary composition. I began piano lessons with my mother at the age of 8. At 17 I began studies with Irma Harter at the Edith McIntosh School of Music on Long Island, New York. I earned her Bachelor's degree at Adelphi University, where I studied exclusively with acclaimed concert and recording artist David Bradshaw. I also studied with Laurie Ticehurst-Poole at the Bryn Mawr Conservatory from 1996 to 2005, where I participated in master classes. I have performed in recitals at Carnegie Hall's Weill Concert Hall, and I participated in an international piano festival. Read More

Initial lessons will identify the students strong points and weak points, and a personal strategy will be employed to help strengthen and balance the student overall. Many beginning classical musicians are able to read fairly well but have little to no comprehension of how and why the music works; while many contemporary musicians may have "chops" but lack in their ability to read and/or have proper technique. I am a bassist and artist with a passion for developing my students creativity, as well as preparing them for a myriad of musical settings. I began performing publicly on a weekly basis over ten years ago and am very familiar with the skills necessary to be the kind of musician people want to perform with. The main focus of my teaching curriculum is to develop a life long love of music and a passion for the creative arts. Read More
