Maybe how you play video games can teach you something about how to practice at the piano, maybe your favorite sport can teach you something about performance anxiety, or maybe something as simple as opening a door can show you something about trill technique. After all, music is made by people, not purpose-made automatons. I am a classically trained, working percussionist with a passion for bringing music to life. I graduated from Wittenberg University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in percussion performance and participated in multiple honors ensembles as principal percussionist while enrolled. I have performed professionally at a variety of events around Austin, Texas, including with the Austin Klezmer Band and the Austin Civic Orchestra. In my own music practices, I strive to be both technically skillful on all percussion instruments from the marimba to the snare drum to the cymbals and, yes, even to the triangle, as well as musically knowledgeable in order to manifest musical interpretations that are just as expressive as they are contextually appropriate.
