I like to keep the mood lighthearted and fun while I am teaching, so that all students will feel comfortable and play to the best of their abilities. I do, however, believe in the importance of consistent and concentrated practice, and I will always tell a student if I feel that they are not putting enough work into their instrument. Because I know that people have busy schedules, I strive to teach students how to practice efficiently so that they can improve their playing even if they have limited time in the day in which to practice. I believe that the best way to learn music is to find ways to make practicing an instrument a fun and enjoyable endeavor. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 10 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
