My teaching experience starts 6 years ago when I started teaching marching band in Douglasville, Ga. I marched baritone with Spirit of Atlanta in 2013 and 2014. As time progressed, I started to teach music with local schools through Georgia State University and private connections as either a section coach or a private instructor. My private studio, with brass students, has been running for about two years now. There are two selected teaching methods that I confer with in order to select the most appropriate method for my students. For my beginning students, I select Schaum (Books 1-3) for piano lessons, and Benners Book One for theory lessons. The Schaum methods offers bright and color-coded books, which reflects that various learning levels. Once the students have attained the basic keyboard and theory fundamentals, the students will be given an assessment of their mastery, they will advance to the immediate level. Read More

For both voice and guitar, I begin with evaluation of where the student is. I then discuss with the student to realize what their goals are, and why they want to progress in this field. I then assign daily exercises that the student can utilize to begin to build control and virtuosity with their instrument. We will then collaborate to begin choosing repertoire to work on, and find music that makes the student enthused to practice in-between our sessions. Read More

Alongside being an artist, teaching has been a great part of my life.  In addition to my artistic career,  I have had the privilege of having a  dynamic educational career!  My first teaching job dates back to 13 years ago.  Since then, my career has branched out into many facets of the field, both as a classroom teacher and as a private instructor.  I have had the opportunities to work with students of all ages, both in the academic and musical settings.  My current educational stint is that of a special educator who works with children with Autism.  In either setting, it is my goal as a teacher to get the student excited about learning the basics and then building the skills, so that he/she may perform to his/her fullest potential.  Read More

I love watching my students learn and grow, musically. I encourage listening as much as possible in addition to daily practice. I like to give my students a variety of excercises or pieces to work on to ensure that they don't get bored or burnt out practicing the same thing. I am very laid back and easy to get along with, and I feel that above all else music should be exciting and fun for the student, whether it be performing in recitals or shows or simply for one's own enjoyment. My first teaching experience dates back to 2004. I started teaching at the Kathryn Brickell School for Music. on Long Island, NY. Since then, in between recording and touring, I have never stopped. Having clear set goals and a gameplan to achieve it is what I emphasize most for students at any age.
