Teaching strategies and experience ranges differently from each instructor. For beginners, such as children, I would start with the book series 'Essential Elements'. From experience, Leonard provides the most thorough book to grasp the ability to learn violin. Scale practice and listening sessions would also be a consideration for children as repetition is best to help the younger audience learn such an intricate instrument. I set realistic goals for my students at each lesson as the next lesson will be intertwined with the last. It is encouraging when students gain praise for their accomplishments. I began teaching voice lessons in 1995 while living in Los Angeles, CA. I worked with many production and management companies developing unsigned and signed artists. I started teaching one-on-one so the students could get the results for strengthening their voice. As I always say "Singing is Breathing" so the first exercise I teach is proper diaphragmatic breathing to increase vocal range.
