Generally, my teaching style depends on the student. Why is that? Everyone is unique, and everyone learns differently. It would be absolutely foolish of me to ever think that I can use one teaching method or style for each and every student. So I teach based on the student's learning style and predispositions. Also I tend to do alot of finger techniques as well as aural training, because I believe even though music reading is essential, it does you no good if you can't respond musically to the sounds and the nuances of your environment. For my students who are more focused on skill growth, I stress the importance of putting the technique and skills I teach into context with the songs I assign. During the hour lesson, I spend roughly 5-7 minutes warming up the voice, then we jump right into working on repertoire.
