I'm a driven and patient teacher with a deep desire to learn and to share knowledge. I've been performing on piano/guitar/saxophone/voice from a very early age and have continued to refine my craft. I've performed in numerous musicals throughout K12 eventually leading to my time at UGA where I received my Bachelors in Music. For all of my students, I find out what they are interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly. I typically start with the Piano Adventures series and my own compositions. Once my students understand the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance or competition. All of my students get a complete musical education by learning theory, performance, and music history. My teaching experience started when I was in Highschool , and this has carried on throughout college and after college. I tutored my peers while still learning other instruments simultaneously. I have had the opportunity to teach at a number of elementary, middle and high schools in the atlanta and atlanta metro school districts. At the age of 17, I flew to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute where I studied Bass Guitar Performance. Learning from and playing with some of the best musicians in the business was amazing. I left school to hit the road with my first professional band. I spent the next 20+ years writing, recording and touring all over the country. I was lucky enough to be in a few bands that landed indie recording contracts, which allowed me to tour nationally doing original music, with songs I had written being played on radio and on TV shows across the country. Typically, for a novice-piano/keyboard student, I began with one or two Hanon drills to strengthen the third and fourth fingers; as they are usually the weaker fingers in beginners.
