I tailor a student's curriculum to their musical goals and needs, while making sure that I am instilling the fundamentals needed for pursuing music at the college scholarship level. Often this means scales, chords, arpeggios, music literacy, performance practice and listening skills. To accomplish this, I use standard materials that are often available online and are used by college and University music programs around the world. Technical development is always an essential element in my teaching but the ultimate goal is to help the students to feel and express music to the very extent their abilities. For children and beginning studetns, I will typically start in a level one method book. This allows us to get acquainted with the instrument and some terminology that may be a bit foriegn for some students. This also provides an opportunity to learn how to read basic notes and chords which will highly accelerate our learning process. I've been playing music my whole life. My father is my biggest inspiration. I started my training at Peabody when I was 5 years old in their music exploratory program. Next I studied cello for many years. When I was a teenager about 13 I started trying to hold my cello sideways and that's hone my father bought me an electric bass.
