I make lessons fun, but also structured instilling an important tool as a musician which is discipline. My students can expect to increase their confidence, their tone, intonation, music education, extend their range, improvise, as well as transpose songs to fit their style of voice. I’m excited to create beautiful and lasting memories though the art of music and look forward to meeting and teaching you or your child! Read More

Although my formal education is in the sciences, I am a passionate violinist/fiddler who loves sharing my love of music and theater through performance and working with students. I've played violin since the age of four, learning through the Suzuki Method, and continuing through the summers in music camps. During my school years I played viola and cello, and was a member of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra, chamber ensembles, and pit orchestra. Read More

For all of my students, I find out what they are interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly. I typically start with the Piano Adventures series and my own compositions. Once my students understand the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance or competition. All of my students get a complete musical education by learning theory, performance, and music history. It's important that lessons are engaging and paced accordingly to maximize my student's enjoyment and keep their interest for our entire lesson. Read More

I start beginning students that are interested in learning to play guitar with rhythm for the strumming hand. I will then move on to the fretting hand to finger positioning as well as learning the notes (on the guitar fingerboard) as heard at concert pitch. Music theory will be taught as applied to the guitar. I do not use any published books for teaching but prefer to develop my own lessons plans customized to each students interest and ability. I started teaching guitar in High School in 2009, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 8 years. I took private lessons for 7 years from four different guitar instructors, so I know what works and what doesn't. My number one focus as a teacher is keeping my students engaged, and doing my best to ignite their passion for the instrument of guitar. I start with teaching proper technique, form, and posture, as well as the basic chord shapes and strumming patterns, and from there I teach songs that both put these new techniques into practice and adhere to the student's musical interests. My teaching style is one that is motivating the student to be their best. Often competition can be healthy, but can also be counterproductive when motivating creative entities. If people feel great about themselves it is often easy to get the level of productivity out of them they need to reach the goals set ahead of them. My job as an instructor is to motivate and set place markings to achieve for ultimate success. Read More
Instruments: Violin
Teaching strategies and experience ranges differently from each instructor. For beginners, such as children, I would start with the book series 'Essential Elements'. From experience, Leonard provides the most thorough book to grasp the ability to learn violin. Scale practice and listening sessions would also be a consideration for children as repetition is best to help the younger audience learn such an intricate instrument. As for older students, say teens and adults, I would say depending on the student themselves, I am very malleable to understand what the student wants out of 'music lessons'. Read More
