I design my own curriculum for all of my voice students, which usually comprises of basic piano and theory skills and vocal technique.  Dependent upon the students interest level and personal goals, I determine the extent of the materials and the pace of the lessons.  Since I only teach beginner piano for children and teens, I usually stick to the basic beginner books (i.e. Hal Leonard or John Thompson) and slowly Incorporate solo repertoire.    Read More

I have been using the Alfred Method Books for my beginning piano students, as they provide a well-rounded program incorporating theory, technique and performance. pieces.  Intermediate students should, in my opinion, begin to choose the music they want to work on.  I like my students to learn how to read music as well as play by ear, how to practice and how to incorporate theory into performance. All of which are “high-level”, professional, touring festival bands. I have taught all ages from 4 - 98. I emphasize a well-balanced diet of classical, popular, sacred, and jazz. Students' preferences are always taken into consideration. In addition, I provide students with a solid theoretical foundation. Concentration is upon functional theory that is applicable to where the student is in their music studies.
