My teaching experience started when a good friend introduced me to a family that has two daughters that were interested in learning music. The 11 year old wanted to learn how to play the drum set and the 14 year old was interested in playing the guitar. I found the joy of teaching music to children on these instruments was a very challenging but rewarding experience that lasted for 3 years. For all beginner students I like to start with Essential Elements 2000 for violin. I find it is a great way to introduce reading music notation for students who havent learned yet. Once the student has a good grasp on reading music and playing in upright position, I like to introduce introductory solo repertoire with Suzuki Violin School. I find this is a great way to introduce violin techniques like tone development along with performance elements. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my pre-college/ post high school days where I was a volunteer director of a community ensemble in Jamaica. This opportunity opened doors for me to teach music theory and private saxophone and flute lessons in a community based project that was geared towards using music for social development and change in the inner city youth. I eventually moved on to the college setting where I served as a Graduate Assistant who had the responsibility of providing private and supplemental lessons to students who were enrolled in the University, all while operating a private studio of my own.
