I LOVE MUSIC. And I'm here to help you discover why you love it too. I'm a singer/songwriter, opera singer, voice teacher, guitar player, and stage performer. I recently graduated from Florida State University and received master’s degree in Vocal Performance, and got my Bachelor's at GSU here in Atlanta. I'm seasoned in many musical styles including opera, art song, singer- songwriter, musical theatre, vocal jazz, and more. I've got over 300 hours of one on one teaching experience, and am confident I can help you develop your voice, your guitar playing, your understanding of music, or your song writing skills to their highest point possible. Let's collaborate and have some fun!
All of the skills that I teach are based upon a lifetime of performing. I have been singing since I joined choir in 4th grade and began playing guitar at 14. I started teaching after I finished my undergrad, but my skills were greatly enhanced when I did my Master's degree. I was employed by FSU to teach while I was in my Master's, and I had a rotating studio of 10-14 college age musicians who I met with on a weekly basis. A vast majority of them were Musical Theatre singers, but I utilized classical technique and scientific understanding to teach them how to fully utilize their voices and yield the most control and best sound possible out of their instruments. I also began teaching guitar, pop vocals, and even developed a unique approach to teaching songwriting utilizing basic music theory knowledge and common chord progression techniques to help young artists get the sounds in their head into a concrete song.
For both voice and guitar, I begin with evaluation of where the student is. I then discuss with the student to realize what their goals are, and why they want to progress in this field. I then assign daily exercises that the student can utilize to begin to build control and virtuosity with their instrument. We will then collaborate to begin choosing repertoire to work on, and find music that makes the student enthused to practice in-between our sessions. Most importantly, the student is in control of what they learn.
Every student has a unique journey. My goal as a teacher is always to build understanding for my students, and never utilize methods that are 'tricking' anyone into success. I want to give my students the tools to begin finding success on their own and grow independently of my teaching. I utilize systematic approaches to building progress, giving exercises that the student can take home and practice daily to ensure rapid progression. I also give very honest feedback. My job is to lend you my ears and my skills to make you the best musician you can be.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
