When it comes to the actual knitty-gritty of teaching music, I like to listen to what a student is interested in before putting together any kind of lesson plan. Often times, when starting from scratch with children, I'll begin with a book from the Alfred series to teach true green newcomers on piano. These books move slowly, but start off with recognizable tunes so students can feel accomplished and satisfied right away by realizing "I know this song! Read More

For adult students, I take a different approach by first assessing their musical interests and goals. Whether they are drawn to classical pieces, contemporary songs, or even specific genres like jazz or folk, I tailor my instruction to align with their preferences. This personalized strategy helps maintain their motivation and makes lessons enjoyable, regardless of their current skill level. By incorporating their chosen music into our sessions, I aim to foster a passion for learning and create a fun, engaging environment where they can thrive. Read More

At the age of 17, I flew to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute where I studied Bass Guitar Performance. Learning from and playing with some of the best musicians in the business was amazing. I left school to hit the road with my first professional band. I spent the next 20+ years writing, recording and touring all over the country. I was lucky enough to be in a few bands that landed indie recording contracts, which allowed me to tour nationally doing original music, with songs I had written being played on radio and on TV shows across the country. - My teaching style is one of the many things that sets me a part from other teachers. I work to create a fundamental relationship with my students to find out what their goals are, what specific level they are at currently, and where they want to take their talents. Once I’ve discovered these essential things, I work with my student at their own pace of comfort and challenge to allow them to learn the things that interest them as well as continue to develop as a musician. My teaching experience spans over the course of the past5 years, as I began teaching when I was in college, and since then have branched out to teaching students of all ages in both my recording studio and church. I encourage students to practice on a regular basis, especially with the younger students, as it aids in the student's progress, growth and passion for playing the piano. My job is to ensure that the lesson is an experience that is rewarding, memorable and most of all, fun. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching style is simple and basic. I encourage them to bring water and recording devices. I remind them to keep a positive attitude before we start. We always begin with breathing exercises, scale exercises, warm ups and resonance strengthen and vocal agility. I encourage them to understand how important it is to use your diaphragm to transition in the head voice for great tones and control. I teach the students how to use the resonance to increase tone and volume and use the head voice for less tone and volume. Read More
