My teaching experience began right after high school where I joined my musician friends teaching at K-Piano Music Academy. I taught children beginner piano schools K-5 in an afterschool program and have been teaching aspiring musicians mostly online since 2020. Now I want to expand my experience to the people in our community, encouraging musicians of all skill levels to bring them to another level they might not have expected. I focus on "learning how to learn" techniques that can take you far. Read More

I began teaching private lessons during college but I have always shown people how to play instruments my entire career. I have always had a knack for both learning music and teaching it. One thing my students would say about me is that I am patient. Everyone learns in a different way and there is not one way to teach someone to play a song or read a sheet. Initially I learned by ear but my journey has lead me to advance my playing through non traditional routes such as learning from others along the way, reading sheet music and watching lessons online. There are moments that I look back and think how amazing is that students start from scratch and now they are able to create music on their favorite musical instrument. Technical development is always an essential element in my teaching but the ultimate goal is to help the students to feel and express music to the very extent their abilities. Often, I focus on the particular struggles a student may go through and I am trying to help them overcome the obstacle that may prevent them to enjoy the music they play. Read More

It's important to cultivate a student's musical knowledge by building upon their current foundation. Similar to the way children learn a language, music students of all ages should start by listening and singing/playing before learning to read and even write. Combining this natural approach with a focus on how and why to develop good technique helps students get the results they're looking for. Read More

Every student has a unique journey. My goal as a teacher is always to build understanding for my students, and never utilize methods that are 'tricking' anyone into success. I want to give my students the tools to begin finding success on their own and grow independently of my teaching. I utilize systematic approaches to building progress, giving exercises that the student can take home and practice daily to ensure rapid progression. Read More

My passion for sharing knowledge begin during my time as high school tuba section leader, which led to Senior band president. Assisting my peers so we could sound better via musical corrections, this would build our confidence levels and the moral throughout the ensemble. I furthered my passion for music at Berklee College of Music, where I studied various aspects, methods, and approaches to educating someone about the art of music. Read More

At that age, it's all about their goals, since the students are self-sufficient and able to decide what's best for their goals on their own. As far as method books go, I like Hal Leonard's Essential Elements (I've used those methods a lot when teaching middle school band) for young students, Hanon's exercises and Bela Bartok's Mikrokosmos for intermediate piano, and trips to Guitar Center for adult guitarists (I'm serious: John Petrucci has a great method for Rock Guitar, for example).
