With beginners, I always explore the very basics with them. This means we work on breathing and embrochure formation together. Along with this, we also learn the basics of reading music. From there on out, I use Breeze Easy Trumpet Method, Arban, Clarke, Irons, Bai Lin, Caruso, and Stamp to develop fundamental technique, based on what I think each student needs. I began teaching in my sophomore year of college at the age of 19. I started by giving thirty minute to one hour lessons to local students. I soon began leading masterclasses for the flute students of the local middle and high schools. Most recently, I taught a masterclass to a large group (30-40) of high school flute students.
