My teaching method is based on the famous and world renowned Russian and Italian schools of singing. The basic principles of the system are: freedom within established boundaries, the correct position of throat for the easy voice flow. Correct articulation, natural psychological, physical and mental development. I am confident, that at absolutely any age a person can become a skilled singer. I have had students ranging from 5 to 60 years old, and each and every one of them had success withing their singing. Read More

I am a unique teacher, I believe in allowing the student to create their idea of what a vocal coach looks and sounds like, yet only the student can put their effort into making each lesson a success! I can motivate the student into putting forth that effort. Choosing a song, style and performance based on where their comfort level is, working with that, and yet challenging them along the way to be open to trying new ideas. Read More

I am student-oriented teacher. I would like the student to explain their goals to me and we will work as a team to achieve those goals. This involves choosing the music to be studied. I have plenty of ideas for beginners who want help with choosing books. Then as lessons progress, student goals can be plugged I to instruction, no matter what music they are playing or singing. I encourage students to play for family and friends, and participate in music education events. Read More

Instruments: Trumpet

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
Effective practicing can be accomplished by being consistent. By simple practicing everyday things fall into place before we notice. Even if you practice 15 mins a day you're working things out. Just like with exercising playing an instrument is very similar. Golfers go to the driving range to practice their swing. The more they do it the more things fall into place and the swing gets more consistent and more accurate. A musician practices wide range of things in order to reach a high level of command on their instrument. The more you stay consistent with something, even if its short periods of time daily, cumulatively we continue to grow and become better!

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
My personal belief is a student is ready to learn music and start lessons as soon as they want. I started playing trumpet at the age of 6. My brother was a huge influence and showed me how to play. Once I started I couldn't put it down. If your child is curious at all about playing and instrument or singing or doing anything musical, get them started in lessons right away. It gives them positive 1 on 1 instruction to help them understand the process of learning and instrument and can easily progress faster with 1 on 1 instruction.

When will I start to see results?
The musical process is always in progress. It never stops. I've been playing for over 18 years now and I'm still learning. Results depend on consistent practicing as I mentioned before. My over all observation on results are they vary. Some results you'll see right away and others may take significant time to notice. It's always best to keep in mind there are "levels" of results. Concepts you practice may be really hard and only see a small result of your effort. That's OK! You're still getting a positive result. No matter how small or how big... any positive result equals progress.

Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
All of my private teachers inspired me to continue with music. They gave me all the tools necessary to practice effectively, understand the level of playing I needed to get to in order to work as a professional. One specific teaching I spent over 6 years with worked very hard with me and worked through thousands of practice material and benefited greatly by practicing EVERYTHING. If it wasn't for his background and great teaching structure, I would not be where I am today in my own ability to teach and play.

Beginner Guitar Songs: 4 Songs Great for New Guitarists

...Williams     This tune has only three chords and a basic country rhythm technique, making it a great place to jump into our beginner guitar songs. The song begins on A major and has alternating bass notes. This means on the first downbeat you play an open A string, then on the upbeat you strum the chord. On the second downbeat you play an open E string then strum the chord on the upbeat.   Repeat this rhythm pattern, of alternating bass notes and chord strumming throughout the entire song. As the slide guitar intro ends and the singing begins you should have landed on a D major chord. This time ... Read More

Here’s the breakdown: The “boom” is the bass (lowest note of the chord) played with a down strum The “chicka” is the higher part (the top 2 or 3 strings) of the chord also played with alternating strums (down followed by up) Down strum on “chick” and the up ... 10 Benefits of Learning Piano

...powerful emotions in a person. We’ve all had the experience of walking into a room that’s haunted by a person playing something gorgeous or devastating on the piano. The instrument was designed to reflect human emotion and feeling, so it’s no wonder that the piano is more relevant and prominent in 2016, more than three centuries after its invention. Piano music can deliver genuine beauty and delight to a person, and these things are often in short supply for someone weighed down by the stresses of work and family commitments.   The benefits of learning piano are powerful and numerous, but you’ll ... Principals of Basic Drum Beats for Rock, Part 1

...beat (half, quarter, eighth, etc). From this, we can see why the meter known as ‘common time’ is expressed as 4/4: four beats to the measure, with the quarter note getting the beat (four quarters equaling a whole). The vast majority of rock songs are in 4/4, and that is what we will be dealing with in this post.   The beats in a meter fall loosely into stronger and weaker categories. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the strongest beat in the measure is the first, and is known as the downbeat. In 4/4 time, the third beat is recognized as having the next greatest strength, with the 2nd ...
