There are two selected teaching methods that I confer with in order to select the most appropriate method for my students. For my beginning students, I select Schaum (Books 1-3) for piano lessons, and Benners Book One for theory lessons. The Schaum methods offers bright and color-coded books, which reflects that various learning levels. I taught children beginner piano schools K-5 in an afterschool program and have been teaching aspiring musicians mostly online since 2020. I firmly believe in individual learning processes. Once I determine each student's learning style, I design my lessons to adhere to that style. Most students prefer a combination of vocal instruction and hands-on demonstration of theory and technique. It is exciting and rewarding to me to meet the student where they are and work with them in a manner that is comfortable for them. My style is based mostly in questions I ask of the student, asking them what they're thinking, feeling, and experiencing as they play certain passages or exercises.
