Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I have taught through Musikalessons since 2004 and had taught in my own studio and private University settings for years before that. I have also taught elementary general music, 6 yrs; orchestra in elem, mid and high school, University String Project, community orcheatra (13 yrs); choir in Albuquerque Boy Choir (9 yrs), University chorus (8 yrs), public and parochial school choirs grades 2 thru 12 (12 years). Violin - Core: Suzuki Violin series volumes 1-6, Kreutzer Etudes, Mazas Etudes, Original Compositions, Bach, Mozart. + Scales/Arpeggios + Interval exercises such as broken 3rds, 5ths, Octaves. Piano - Core: Alfred's or Faber Piano Adventures, volumes 1-3, Czerny Etudes, Burgmuller Etudes, Mozart, Beethoven. + Scales/Arpeggios, Interval exercises such as broken 3rds, 5ths, Octaves. I have have an extremely demanding position with APS, including working with the Mentoring Program where I guided new teachers through their first year, but now, after COVID, I want to focus on rebuilding my private lesson community. I usually have at least a few students who meet me at my home during the week or on weekends. I adapt my instructional methods uniquely to each student and the instrument that they'd like to learn. For some instruments, I refer to specific methods that I have experience in. For example, for Piano I would refer to the Suzuki method for young children, while for Euphonium/Baritone and Trombone I would refer to Alfred's Accent on Achievement series. Many students often come with their own questions or concepts that they'd like to learn, so I often integrate their ideas into my lesson plans, most often for 'ukulele and guitar. Read More

Once we've gone through this process, I'll move on to the specific song we're working on for the purpose of performing or recording. For voice students, I take everyone through the process of warming up by using the three parts of vocal production: Breathing, Phonation, Resonance (or Tone).
