From my jazz training I help students improvise and create their own artistry. From my classical training I help students to learn to sight read, interpret the page correctly, play with a clean sound and play well in an ensemble. From my folk music training, I teach how to play from chord sheets, how to dirty up the sound to match the style and how to play in styles such as bluegrass, jazz, American fiddle, Irish and Scottish, Scandanavian, Klesmer or Classical. I'm a passionate musician who feel more than grateful with this art because it has given me the opportunity to travel around the world and get to know amazing people not only masters but also students that now I feel proud to call friends. I'm very concerned about my students learning process because if they love music as much as I and intend to learn it from me, is a huge compromise to me and I approach it in the most professional way possible. I incorporate a well-rounded approach with my students by teaching musical skills beyond their particular instruments such as aural skills and theory. I use my background and training in Kodaly and Orff to teach music like a language by directing my students through experience and practice of the concept for better understanding. I use positive reinforcement and keep things fun for all ages. In each lesson, I work on aural skills and theory through fun warm-up games that get gradually more challenging as time continues. I am very positive about teaching my students. I have the knowledge to teach about the theory, technique and flow of the music up through the intermediate level. I don't necessarily stay with the music until it is perfect, because as the student learns more they can always come back to it and play it better. I do encourage my students to perform pieces they are doing well with, it's always fun to play for a small group and share each others gifts. Read More

I help students to find their forte. I discovered what motivates them through years of teaching in my studio, students' homes, music schools and instrument shops. Highlights of my teaching career include teaching at The L.A. Conservatory of Music and Eubanks Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, and presidency of the Music Teachers Association of California, San Fernando East Valley. While I played at the piano, several congregations have sung God’s praises. Read More
