For beginning piano students, I use Alfred's All-in-one Piano Course books. These books combine repertoire and theory, thereby cutting down on the number of books a new student needs to purchase. I use a variety of materials for voice students. I may ask that my voice students purchase books of repertoire that contain songs useful for building on their strengths and working on their weaknesses.  I have also taught general music from kindergarten up through 5th grade, and assisted bands at the university level.  My performance experience has taken me to many wonderful places--College bowl games and the NCAA Tournaments to international hotspots such as Bogota, Columbia and even as far away as China.  I have also been fortunate enough to perform with musical icons such as Doc Severinson, Mariachi Cobre, Byron Stripling, John Fedchock, Bobby Shew, Five by Design, Club Swing, the Harry James Orchestra, Andre Williams, and notable groups such as the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Phil Campo and the "Loose Change" Jazz band, the Salt Lake Alternative Jazz Orchestra, and many others. Hello! I have enjoyed teaching children, competing, accompanying for universities, studying music theory, playing for weddings and nursing homes, and playing at my church for the past eleven years. My piano experience spans over 20 years now, having included exciting opportunities such as the 2016 New Years jazz concert in London at Codagen Hall (Queen Elizabeth wrote everyone a letter thanking them for helping with the celebration!). I like to create lessons in which students learn to read traditional music notation, develop technique, and play familiar tunes. I use musictheory.net to help student practice reading note names. The faster a student can read musical notation, the faster the student can pick up new pieces. To develop technique, I want students to lean scales and arpeggios. Sometimes, we use a technique book to develop muscle memory, and other times technical exercises are created based on the tricky musical passages of solo or ensemble pieces. Read More

I first started teaching guitar in high school after i got a few lessons from someone i looked up to in high school. From then on i have loved to teach music to all ages!.
