I began teaching group lessons in high school, about 13 years ago. I have been teaching private students for the past 3 years. I love teaching flute because the practice of creating a beautiful sweet tone emphasizes a focus on the breath which promotes mindfulness and relaxation. To make practice fun, I suggest that students should pick out a songbook of their favorite music so that they are excited to pick up the instrument and practice to improve. Read More

My husband is in the Air Force so I have had the opportunity to teach students all over the country for over 15 years. I like using the Faber books so that the students learn their notes, theory, and all aspects of music. Every student is different and has different dreams, needs and goals. So, my teaching style relies heavily on communicating with my students and their parents, if applicable. My first lesson is focused on setting goals for yourself and unearthing musical dreams and ideas. The following lessons are about hitting that goal as soon as possible. Once that goal is hit, I set another goal with you, and so on.
