I facilitated individual an group musical collaborations, and helped train people to do the same via workshops I facilitated at conferences. I have also led community singalongs, and taught individual students vocals and percussion over this time. I'm a big believer that everyone can sing and everyone can drum, and that music is a gift inherent to being human that we all can share and rejoice in. For beginning piano students, I use Alfred's All-in-one Piano Course books. These books combine repertoire and theory, thereby cutting down on the number of books a new student needs to purchase. I use a variety of materials for voice students. I may ask that my voice students purchase books of repertoire that contain songs useful for building on their strengths and working on their weaknesses. With the knickname, "Song Bird", Iperformed as school choir soloist and as leads in various Rodgers and Hammerstein productions at summer camp.I spent nearly every Christmas in New York City whereI gained a love of the Broadway musical. I am a musician in many aspects...mainly as a music teacher in Albuquerque Public Schools, and also my job in the Army as a member of the 44th Army Band.  I also teach private lessons at a local studio, and I can be found in Old Town on Wednesday and sometimes Saturday nights jamming with the Jazz musicians of this wonderful city.   I have taught choir and band from the 5th grade level all the way up through high school including subjects like music theory, jazz band, treble choir, marching band, and percussion ensemble.
