My method on teaching varies from student to student because there are no two students alike. For those who have no idea about anything to do with the guitar i start from scratch with the basics and i show them what every part of the guitar is called and why it is the way it is, also how to tune a guitar as well as learn the strings and notes. I have a great rapport with the students because we both generally want to be there. I have learned a lot about myself over the years about the various ways people learn. One cannot approach every student with the same program. Some are more visual and love to read music, some have a great ear and can play back something they only have heard once. I try to be aware of strengths, and work on the things that need more focus. Read More

My teaching experience started in the YMCA, my church worship band, with friends and friend's kids and evolved into private lessons with friends of friends via word of mouth. I have taught over 50 students in 10 years. All great students but I know 12 who have gone on to play music professionally in solo work, bands, movies and TV. I have performed Folk, Mariachi, Gospel, Christian, Electronica and Classical music all over the country in bands and in my own solo work. Read More

I have spent the last 5 years studying to become a great teacher! In December of 2017 I finished my degree in Music Education at Brigham Young University- Idaho, and in August I begin my Masters Degree in String Pedagogy at the University of New Mexico. I am very passionate about being sure my students gain skills through music education that will stay with them beyond what they study with me. My students walk away with skills like perseverance, appreciation for art and culture, dedication, confidence through struggle, and a healthy growth mindset. Read More

Some students need more help with music theory and music reading, which is my specialty, but I am also happy to work with students who would like to focus more on learning by rote, or by ear, It is my preference however to blend the two styles together for a well rounded learning experience. I would like to present recitals for the parents at least twice a year when possible. Read More

Along with a strong background of fundamentals found in Faber's Adventures, Burnam's Step By Step, and Snell's Repertoire, I help students from five to nine with personal selections based on interest. Examples would be Disney songs (Aladdin, Beauty and The Beast), Gospel and Religious (Jesus Loves Me, the Dreydl song), or superheroes (Spiderman). Ten to 14-year olds have used favorites from around the world -(everything from Greensleeves to Malaguena, In the Hall of the Mountain King and more superheroes like Batman and Iron Man), plus classics by Beethoven and Bach.
