For beginning students, I typically start with a combination of exercises from the Hal Leonard Rubank trumpet method book and crafted exercises learned from my studies with masterful instructors. We then work on age level appropriate solo repertoire and duets in which the student and I can play together. For older students we focus on a condensed embouchure development routine and then repertoire from the classical or jazz tradition based on the students interests. Read More

I keep lessons tailored to each student's needs and skill level.  Students come to private music tutors for many reasons and some do not include a "passion" for the art , itself. Some wish to develop an appreciation for music to which they listen, to gain a greater knowledge of music literature, or to acquire skills for a passtime they find relaxing and enlightening. I began teaching singing lessons as a youth mentor more than a decade ago. I helped these young people develop their voices and performance skills, and supported them to perform songs in front of their school communities and families. I started teaching Balkan singing and percussion workshops with my band a decade ago. Around the same time, I was involved in a program that developed trainings and curricula for group and individual musical facilitation for individuals in hospice, inter-generational community ensembles in nursing care communities, and people with memory loss. Once students have progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin with the "Playing Piano by Ear" 20 lesson curriculum. For adults, I try to find out where the student is in knowledge and how advanced they are, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I play piano for dance classes and dance majors who study both modern dance and ballet.   I am a composer, songwriter, piano player, recording artist, and producer.  I have released over ten albums since the year 2000.  Two of the releases are with the Monroe Institute which makes Hemi-Sync music to balance brain wave patterns and assist with learning, focus, creativity, and ADD.  I have released electronic music under my own name, and pop music under the name Bloom.
