My teaching style is personalized, goal-oriented, but also fun focused. I take a personalized approach, focusing on understanding each student's unique vocal goals, strengths, and areas for improvement. By setting large, medium, and small SMART goals, I ensure that progress is tangible and attainable, helping students build confidence in their vocal abilities. I also believe in making the lessons feel fun and be gratifying in the process of hitting smaller goals and Student Learning Outcomes, as the student also works towards more long term goals. Every person has different strengths, weaknesses, motivators, and goals. I like to keep all of these things in mind before I start designing a lesson plan for each person. I like to make sure that I am teaching both the ear to listen and the eye to read, so I make sure I can improve the development of both by providing effective sight=reading and aural exercises in every lesson. Since 2017, I have also served as a music teacher at the Escuela Diocesana de Música Litúrgica “Canta y Camina”, where I teach singing, music theory, choral conducting, and music digital media. My experience as both a performer and educator allows me to combine technical vocal training with practical, real-world applications, encouraging students to practice songs they truly enjoy while adapting them to their vocal range and needs. In addition to my teaching work, I have extensive performance experience as a soprano and ensemble singer, collaborating with choirs and music groups across Mexico and the U.S., including the Monumental Choir Laudato Si—where I had the honor of singing for Pope Francis during his visit to Juarez—as well as ensembles dedicated to classical, popular, and traditional world music. Before the first lesson I always like to inquire with the student (Parent/Guardian) if the student has taken lessons in the past, in order to better teach, and assign practice material. However, if a student has never taken lessons before, I recommend to young students the Alfred's Basic Piano Lessons Book 1, and for my adult students I will send supplemental materials via email, but also encourage that they purchase in the future, "Essential Piano Repertoire" Level two by Keith Snell. My teaching style focuses on student-lead learning, where I will present a technique and then have the student analyze for themselves the effect it has on their vocal mechanism. The goal of training is to produce smart singers; what is the point of singing one song well if you can't apply the same techniques to another? Through problem-solving out loud, my students quickly learn to analyze their own performances and apply corrections on a consistent, active basis. Read More
