From the moment I was able to make out what music was and how it works together, I have been in love with the concept and drive that it takes to develop and incorporate music in every day life. Whether it may be through a movie score, show, church, orchestral or choral piece each movement has their own distinct character. I have been performing since the age of six at distinct churches, of which I have formed part of their worship ministry and a worship leader for more than 5 years. Read More

For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. We will then work on repetroire focusing on what the student would sing at a recital performance. Read More

I believe teaching in music in an art that requires as much dedication and preparation as performing. When I teach, I dont force a certain technique or method on students, but rather I teach what is best suited for them. On top of that, I always motivate my students with adequate goals. Most importantly, I will make sure my students enjoy music in the process of learning. I have a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Indiana University. Read More

For beginning students (regardless of age instrument) I try to simplify the approach and work on a set of warm ups/exercises coupled with a performance piece or song that they can feel good about and lots of fun listening assignments. From there I have a few options of instruction methods that I tailor to the individual student. More intermediate/advanced students will not escape from some of the basics (metronome, scales, rudiments etc.) but will be met with many more choices of performance material based more on their individual goals.
